The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

stone roses Pictures, Images and Photos

The Stone Roses were a band. They released some singles before this. A few were OK, and some were kinda bad full of yelty vocals terrible lyrics (such as "in the misery dictionary/page after page after page"). At one point, either they started writing better lyrics, or it just got harder to understand them. Not sure. They got John Leckie, who did stuff on "Meddle" by Pink Floyd and did the first 3 LPs the Fall did for Beggar's Banquet.
The song titles are kinda ridiculous: "I Wanna Be Adored", "I Am the Resurrection", "Song for My Sugar Spun Sister", and guitar hero 3 fav. "She Bangs the Drums".

I believe my bio teacher burned this for me my freshman year...anyhoo
so, it starts off real cool and moody with "i wanna be adored", which sounds great! man, i hoped the whole album sounded that sad and depressing. but it didn't. instead, its a bunch of faster paced rockers by some baggy pant wearing 20 year olds. like a pilcher's list album. ergh. sorry for that.

(note - 45 minutes elapsed between that paragraph and the next one)

the rest of the album is fine. some songs are great. i always thought it was too long, but it turns out I have the US version w/ bonus tracks in the middle of the album!

OVERALL REVIEW - fine late 80s album. worth checking out...
KEY TRACKS - i wanna be adored, i am the resurrection, made of stone
