(Couldn't find album artwork on Photobucket - link below has the many variations)
This is an album that you won't be able to find anywhere.
Why?
Well, former school teacher, GBV singer guy, and all around alcoholic decided "Hey, this will be our last album. let's print up 500 copies, all in plain white sleeves, and decorate them all differently".
don't believe me, check it out:
http://www.gbvdb.com/albums.asp?album_title=propeller
also, if you don't know, this wasn't their last album because this was the first one they released people actually LISTENED to.
but, no more GBVistory. you can read the book.
so, the songs:
rockers!
acoustic numbers!!
SUMMER JAMSZZZ!!!
4 TRACAACKK ACOIUUUTTSSSTICC SNIPPPERTYTS!!!!
TOBIN SPROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT, here, they finally seem to have it together. i mean, don't get me wrong, the crap is CRAP! "lethargy"? "ergo space pig"? "particular damaged"?? all awful songs that are nothing more than mr. drunk bobert howling with crap instrumental things.
but - i will say - "metal mothers", "exit flagger", "over the neptune", "mesh gear fox" and some more do kick out the jams like there's no tomorrow. perfect for when i bought it the last day of junior year and drove home listening to it in the now smashed jetta. i had such high hopes for life. i still do. just not with that car.
and tobin has "14 cheerleader coldfront", which bob co-wrote, but it was tobin's music. and bob has "red gas circle", some acoustic thing that sounds intropective.
OVERALL RATING - good job. my copy of the CD has another GBV album called "vampire on titus" on it. i bought it used. new copies of this won't have both albums. you'll need to buy them seperately. i got lucky.
KEY TRACKS - over the neptune, exit flagger, red gas circle, 14 cheerleader cold front.
